Biological Risk Assessment
Biological risk assessment (BIO-RA) is the cornerstone of Biosafety and Biosecurity. There are excellent resources for both hands-on tools as well for providing the necessary context for legal requirements and international best practices.
Eg. in the Netherlands, employers working with hazardous biological agents, incl. genetically modified micro-organisms, are legally required to perform a BIO-RA, or so-called in-depth RI&E (‘verdiepende risico-inventarisatie en -evaluatie’). Context and best practices are the national occupational health legislation (“Arbo”), ISO 35001:2019 Biorisk Management Standard and the WHO monograph on Risk Assessment.
